Patricia Walker, PhD, RN, FAAN MD has held national prominence as a leader in the nursing profession, dean, and nursing service administrator in the policy arena. She is chair of phase III of the TIGER initiative and is a much-sought after speaker on topics such as: health informatics, leadership and cultural change in healthcare. Dr. Walker will review the details and future directions of TIGER, Phase III. She will also highlight how Comparative Effectiveness Research will shape a very different approach to Evidence-Based Practice in the future, as well as discuss the latest on personal health records and e-patients, including digital and genomic technologies for personalized health care.

Dr. Bria is the CMIO for the 22 hospital Shriners Hospitals the Children in Tampa, Florida, and is on the faculty at the University of Michigan and the University of South Florida. He is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan and University of South Florida. Dr. Bria has been a leader in Applied Medical Informatics for over 25 years. He has authored numerous articles and books on informatics. Dr. Bria is currently an advisor to the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), was named to the top 50 Physicians in America, and was selected by the Board of Directors of HIMSS to receive the 2009 Physician IT Leadership Award.

Dr. Yan Chow is Director of Kaiser Permanente Information Technology’s Innovation & Advanced Technology Group (IAT). Dr. Chow has had a successful clinical practice at KP for over two decades. For 10 of those years, he was also involved in regional IT management, overseeing a number of operational systems, including enterprise email, reference databases, and CIPS, the primary system used by 58,000 providers in 60 dispersed sites to manage schedules, labs, radiology results, medications, and immunizations. Dr. Chow will examine how Kaiser Permanente’s Innovation and Advanced Technology Group looks at technologies from clinical, business, and strategic viewpoints to help inform internal decisions on technology expenditure and direction. Hisession will cover the work of this innovation group, as well as some of the criteria and priorities that influence KP’s view of technology products and vendors.
