What is your position on self-referred medical imaging procedures?

, Dr. Murray A. Reicher, M.D. has publicly raised concerns about the recent rampant growth in self-referred medical imaging procedures and in-office imaging by referring doctors. He has recently published editorials in Modern Healthcare and the Journal of the American College of Radiology calling for reforms, including increased payments to doctors who care for patients, as well as eliminating technical component payments for self-referred CT, MRI, PET, and Nuclear procedures.
You may or may not agree with Dr. Reicher’s positions, but you must certainly agree that the issue deserves debate and discussion.
